This is made by myself, entirely by hand, with no machinery involved at all. This item is hand-stitched using the traditional saddle stitch technique which known for its strength and durability, the saddle stitch is a stronger stitch than a machine can produce.
Although it is slower to hand sew something it is done because it is better than machine sewing. Leather sewing machines use what is called a “lock stitch”. If just one loop of a lock stitch is broken the other side will then be loosened which can then lead to the remaining stitches unraveling. A hand sewn saddle stitch is sewn in such a way that this will not happen, if one loop is broken there is a second loop that will remain unbroken thus giving a more secure stitch.
The nature of hand making leather items is that they may possess irregularities this adds to the uniqueness of the items and adds character. Leather is a natural product, and there may be very minor imperfections in the surface and colour.
All items are one-off and the item photographed is what you will receive. I have, to the best of my abilities, tried to show any natural blemishes, variations in colour and inconsistencies in these photographs.
